The story
La table du Royal Snail serves modern cuisine at avenue de la Plante 23 in Namur, and Gault&Millau gave it 13.5 in 2026. Chef Carl Gillain cooks here in a bistronomic style.
The snail is the symbol of Namur, and it turns up on the walls and in small decorative details throughout the dining room. Gault&Millau describes Gillain's cooking as accessible and elegant. The Michelin Guide lists the address as Recommended for 2026.
Starters include deconstructed lobster sushi with crisp vegetables and shellfish mayonnaise, and a beef tartare with foie gras ganache, soy gel and pine nuts. Among the mains are sole meunière with Robuchon purée, crispy veal sweetbreads with sand carrots and thyme jus, and spaghetti guitarra alla lombarda with stracciatella and basil. For dessert there are strawberries with Prosecco and hibiscus, or vanilla rice pudding with blood orange and tarragon sorbet. Cheeses come from the Kaas fromagerie.
The four-course menu costs 60€ per person: lobster sushi, warm salmon with French-style peas, veal with green asparagus and black garlic, then strawberries. A cheese plate can replace dessert for 7.50€ extra. Menus are served to the whole table. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, a 30€ lunch offers starter and main or main and dessert, and can be served within an hour. Wines by the glass sit alongside the longer wine list.
