The story
Cuchara in Lommel, Belgium, is a modern cuisine restaurant at Lepelstraat 3, 3920 Lommel, where chef Jan Tournier holds two Michelin stars (2026) for excellent cooking. The kitchen blends classic French technique with Japanese flavours, and the menu changes with the seasons.
Jan Tournier trained in classic French cuisine, starting with a kitchen placement at the Antwerp Hilton and later working at Het Gebaar. He refined his technique under Roger Van Damme, where he learnt the basics of modern cooking. In 2009 he opened Cuchara in his grandparents' house in Lommel. The first Michelin star came five years later, and the second in 2019.
The menu is fixed and follows the seasons, and the kitchen works with fresh daily products, so small changes can happen. The lunch menu costs €125, and the tasting menu costs €235 with a wine pairing at €130 or a non-alcoholic pairing at €95. The room is minimalist and built from wood and leather. Vegetarian and vegan menus are not offered, and on good weather days a terrace is open for lunch and dinner.
