The story
Taste, at Naamsestraat 62 in Leuven, Belgium, is a seafood-focused kitchen that earned a 14 from Gault&Millau in 2026. The restaurant serves dinner and offers takeaway, and its cooking depends on short supply chains close to home.
Chef Bart Tastenhoye calls his approach the "Product Kitchen," and it starts with local ingredients and quality. As a NorthSeaChef, he works only with fish from close to home. He is also an ambassador of Kortom Leuven, a short-chain distribution network that keeps the supply line short.
The vegetables follow the same rule, sourced from very nearby growers. Each month the kitchen creates one vegetarian menu and one non-vegetarian menu, so regular diners see new dishes. The We're Smart Green Guide lists Taste with four radishes for 2026.
