The story
De Garage is a bistro at Aalbeeksesteenweg 64 in Kortrijk, where the kitchen earned a Gault&Millau score of 12 in 2026 and a Michelin Recommended listing the same year. The menu leans on local produce and classic bistro cooking, with an Italian pasta and a vegan curry alongside the meat.
Chef Tom Brys cooks in view of the dining room. His menu moves between Iberian pork, beef, fish and vegetarian plates, and the kitchen says it chooses each ingredient for being local or nearby, of high quality, and full of flavour. Front of house is run by Fitzgerald Rigole, who has eighteen years in hospitality sales behind him.
The steak "De Garage" comes with frites: three-week aged blue-white sixrib, a seasonal salad and house-made mayonnaise. The stoofvlees uses Iberico pork cheeks, house-smoked bacon and chestnut mushrooms, cooked in St Bernardus and Oncle Pol beers. Sole meunière is served with frites, and spaghetti chitarra arrives with a slow-cooked ragù and 24-month aged parmesan. A vegan green curry with seasonal vegetables and rice rounds out the meat-free options.
The interior keeps references to the building's past life as a garage, according to Gault&Millau. The drinks list covers Belgian beers, Trappist ales, a short list of wines from France, Italy and Germany, and cocktails such as a negroni. Espresso, Irish coffee and mint tea finish the evening.
