The story
Huize Alberic, at Kapellensteenweg 69 in Kalmthout, is a French restaurant that earned 14 points from Gault&Millau in 2026. Michelin also lists it as Recommended that year.
The restaurant occupies the former home of smith and artist Alberic Plettinck, and its 1920s character remains. The original wooden floor, the wrought ironwork and a restored fireplace all honour him. Gault&Millau notes that the owners kept this atmosphere, which gives the rooms a comfortable, warm feel.
Bram Van Gool and Ann Mathijssen, both experienced in hospitality, opened the restaurant to make their plan a reality. The French cooking is served in this setting, and outdoor seating is available.
