The story
LOF is a modern cuisine restaurant at Hoogstraat 36 in Gent, listed as Recommended by the Michelin Guide in 2026. It sits on the ground floor of Pillows Hotel Reylof, and the kitchen belongs to chef Paul de Groote.
Paul de Groote once planned to be a carpenter. At 21 he joined Jannis Brevet at Inter Scaldes, which earned three Michelin stars during his 20 years there. At LOF he builds each dish around the best ingredients, so every element deepens the next. Gault&Millau scored the kitchen 14 in 2026 and noted that he now follows his own voice.
Starters include organic foie gras with chicory, Jerusalem artichoke and parmesan, and North Sea crab with avocado, burrata and Imperial Heritage Caviar. The signature dishes are lobster with asem pedis, orange and Green Tiger tomato, and Anjou pigeon with celeriac, cashew and daidai-ponzu. The Chef's Menu runs to six courses (five on Wednesday and Thursday), and a vegetarian version is available. Wine pairing comes with full glasses or non-alcoholic.
Guests enter through the main entrance of the hotel. Several private salons can host lunch or dinner. On the first Sunday of each month the kitchen serves a relaxed lunch, in the courtyard garden when the weather allows.
