The story
Moonstone is a modern French restaurant at Wiemesmeerstraat 105 in Genk, awarded a Bib Gourmand in the 2026 Michelin Guide. It is part of Hotel Stiemerheide, on the edge of the Hoge Kempen National Park.
Gault&Millau notes a large illuminated moon that catches the eye as soon as you walk in. The interior is contemporary, with plenty of grey tones, and the guide calls it warm and approachable. The same guide gave Moonstone 13.5/20 in 2026 for well-founded cooking and interesting menus.
The kitchen describes its style as contemporary, with regional flavours, seasonal menus and local produce. A starter of gravad lax comes with gin, pomegranate and cucumber, and the North Sea crab bisque is paired with scampi tartare, tandoori and coconut. Charcoal-grilled beef tenderloin with rosemary arrives with fondant potato, aubergine and garlic jus. Dessert might be raspberry with beurre noisette, sherry vinegar and white chocolate, or artisanal cheeses from Van Tricht. The menu marks dishes that are local, organic or fairtrade.
The Bib Gourmand menu runs to three courses at €49.50, with a wine arrangement for €34.50. On Sundays the restaurant serves a four-course menu from noon until 21:00, at €75 per person before drinks. Moonstone is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
