The story
Brasserie Taste serves classic cuisine with a Mediterranean streak at Leuvensesteenweg 331 in Vilvoorde, just off the Brussels ring road. It appears in the Michelin Guide as Recommended for 2026.
Bart Van Hoecke leads the team in a purpose-built brasserie. The card moves between Italy, Spain, Asia and Belgium, with respect for the classics and a few modern ideas. Everything is prepared in-house from fresh products, which the kitchen says can mean a slightly longer wait. Gault&Millau scores the restaurant 13 for 2026.
Starters include marinated scallops with bergamot, hazelnut and parsley root, and hop shoots with a poached egg and mousseline. Wagyu A5 carpaccio comes with avocado and Parmesan. The winter plates take in Anjou pigeon with morel sauce and Iberico pork cheek braised in Tripel Karmeliet. The classics section keeps vol-au-vent with farm chicken and sole meunière, both served with fries. For dessert there is a dame blanche, a crème brûlée and a tiramisu made with speculoos.
Wine gets as much attention as the plates. A cabinet with an Eno-One system lets the house pour exclusive bottles by the glass. Upstairs, a private dining room opens onto its own covered terrace, and a weekday lunch menu is served to the whole table at once.
