The story
La Pendule, the restaurant inside Stadthaus at Kirchbühl 2 in Burgdorf, Switzerland, serves an international kitchen that earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026 for good-quality, good-value cooking. The dining room sits in a historic former town hall.
Gault&Millau awarded the restaurant 15 points for 2026. The reviewer credits chef Christian Bolliger with a kitchen that adjusted on request, serving turbot as the main course when the table preferred fish. The seven-course menu drew praise for balanced textures on each plate.
Aemme shrimp came seared and as tartare, paired with a bisque made from the shells, a warm and cold course with a clear play of textures. House-made pasta arrived in a creamy sauce with generous black truffle. The turbot was cooked perfectly and sat on an intense coconut soup, finished with lime and panko crumble. A chocolate cake with passion fruit closed the meal.
The building was constructed between 1745 and 1750, and the Pendule room has been elegantly renovated. Louis XVI, Empire and Biedermeier furniture, Persian carpets and original mercury mirrors shape the space. Service was attentive, and the wine list offered convincing choices, including open pours.
