The story
Das Selmer's, at Bi Heef 1 on Sylt, is the restaurant of the Hotel Fährhaus Sylt. Its French and world cuisine earned 2.5 Kochlöffel from the Schlemmer Atlas in 2026.
Alexander Klein prepares veal loin, black-feathered chicken and whole turbot. The Schlemmer Atlas singles out these dishes in its entry. The French kitchen works with substantial cuts and whole fish, and the world cuisine side widens the menu beyond the classics.
Beside the elegant main room sits a parlor decorated with Delft tiles. The Victorian main house dates from 1880, when postal skipper Thomas Selmer replaced his first ferry inn of 1868. After a full renovation it reopened in 1997 as a restaurant. It stands by the Munkmarsch yacht harbor, and the terrace looks out over the Wadden Sea.
