The story
Oettinger's Restaurant serves modern French cooking at Fellbacher Straße 2 in Fellbach, on the edge of Stuttgart, inside the Hotel Hirsch. The restaurant holds one Michelin star (2026), and the menu is built around seasonal fish, game and classic French technique.
Michael Oettinger runs the kitchen himself. The Schlemmer Atlas awards the restaurant 3.5 Kochlöffel for 2026. The hotel has been in the family for 150 years, and the gourmet dining room sits in the main building.
The summer card opens with a Breton turbot roasted over barbecue flavours, served with zucchini, mint couscous and watermelon. A signature bouillabaisse arrives with loup de mer, fennel, black garlic and rouille. Bavarian game appears as a saddle with juniper jus, chanterelles and blackberry. Dessert might be a cheesecake with sea buckthorn, almond and apricot.
The dining room is wood-paneled and traditionally elegant. The house motto, "elegant but not stiff", shapes the service. The wine list draws on regional bottles and well-regarded producers from other German wine regions.
