The story
Waldschlössle at Auf dem Kappelberg 2 in Fellbach, in the Stuttgart area, serves seasonal Swabian cooking that earned 2 Kochlöffel from the Schlemmer Atlas in 2026. The setting is green and elevated, with a view over the Neckar Valley.
Manuel Braun runs the kitchen and Annika Braun leads the dining room. They opened Café Glückskind in Winnenden in 2016 before taking on this house. Their aim is the easy warmth of a Swabian Wirtschaft, cooked with produce from the Remstal and nearby farms. The Schlemmer Atlas notes that the menu moves between modern, vegetarian and globally inspired styles. Michelin also lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026.
Most of the menu is made up of small dishes, and the kitchen suggests two to five per person. The winter card has walnut focaccia with whipped honey-salt butter, cured char with kohlrabi spaghetti, and Kaspressknödele in a clear mushroom broth. Those who want a single main course can choose onion roast with beef ragout or veal Wiener Schnitzel. For dessert there is the Neckarwelle, with Marmorküchle, pickled cherries and dark chocolate ice cream.
In winter the dining room seats about 40 and feels dressed up but relaxed. Summer moves outside to the terrace, and private dining is available. The wine list leans on growers from Fellbach and the surrounding hills, and the restaurant hosts events with local wineries through the year.
