The story
esskunst, at Hauptstraße 24 in Schwarzenfeld, is a modern Mediterranean restaurant listed as Michelin Recommended in 2026. Tamara Fäller and Christian Bernholz opened it after many years in top-level kitchens in Germany and abroad.
The cooking draws on several national cuisines and gives old classics a new reading. The house rule is that anything goes as long as it tastes good, and the produce is fresh and hand-selected. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded three Kochlöffel in 2026 and describes a stylish room in the town center, with leather chairs and large stoneware plates.
Guests choose between two four-course menus, one built around Land and one around Wasser. The Land menu (€76) includes seared duck liver with cassis, cinnamon pear and pecan, then Iberico pork fillet and cheek with green asparagus and peanut. The Wasser menu (€72) brings a scallop duo with jalapeño and gently cooked winter cod with coconut and lemongrass.
The à la carte option includes pink-roasted beef fillet with bacon beans. Vegetarians get their own alternatives, and the team explains each dish at the table.
