The story
Heim's Restaurant in Reil, at Moselstraße 27 in Reil an der Mosel, serves country cooking with French refinement and earned a 2.5 rating from Der Feinschmecker in 2026. The restaurant sits in a half-timbered building on the riverbank, part of the family-run Reiler Hof.
Chef Christoph Heim trained under Klaus Erfort and Helmut Thieltges, and his classics keep their tradition while gaining finesse. The guide singled out a foie gras terrine with pineapple, pepper caramel and brioche. A baked country egg with creamed spinach, Parma ham chips and crab is another dish that shows his approach. The restaurant says it cooks with market-fresh seasonal ingredients.
The wine list holds around 300 selections, with a clear focus on the Moselle. Riesling is the centre of it, offered at fair prices and often with real vintage depth. Guests can choose from a menu of up to five courses or order à la carte. The interior is warm, and the spacious terrace looks out over the river. Service feels relaxed and genuinely welcoming, in the way a family house should.
