The story
Kronenschlösschen stands on Rheinallee in Eltville am Rhein (Hattenheim) and serves French and international cooking in a country house near the Rhine. The Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026.
Head chef Marcus Langer builds on classical French haute cuisine and keeps the flavors light. The gourmet restaurant offers a menu of five to seven courses. Yellowtail mackerel arrives with a foam of herbs, kefir and lime caviar. His Eggs Benedict gets shaved white Alba truffle in season, and the Atlantic lobster comes with Jerusalem artichoke confit and an elderberry-caper vinaigrette. Der Feinschmecker gave the restaurant a 3 in 2026.
The cellar is a main draw here. Gault Millau named it the best wine list in Germany, and Der Feinschmecker notes rarities that span several decades alongside national and international bottles. Wine pairing is available for those who would rather leave the choices to the service team.
The country house dates from 1894 and sits a few meters from the Rhine, inside a private park. It has 18 rooms, and the second restaurant serves duck liver terrine, Wiener Schnitzel and Iberico cheeks. A surprise menu is also available. In summer the terrace draws guests outdoors, and the house hosts the annual Rheingau Gourmet & Wine Festival.
