The story
Johanna Berger, at Doktor-Julius-Leber-Straße 69 in Lübeck, serves International and Mediterranean cooking and earned a Michelin Recommended listing in 2026. The restaurant sits in the city's old town and runs a regularly changing menu alongside multi-course surprise menus.
Johanna Berger has served food at the restaurant since 2015, after working in southern France, London, on the North Sea and in Lübeck. Since May 2024, Jamel Jerome Poerschke has led the kitchen, bringing experience from starred restaurants. He describes his approach as a reinterpretation of home cooking, and the food is cheeky at times and quiet at others.
The menu changes often, but recent listings include beef carpaccio with truffle mayonnaise and caviar, zander with saffron risotto and fennel, and beef fillet with cauliflower and raz el hanout. Vegetarian and vegan plates appear throughout. Plettenpudding, a traditional Lübeck dessert, is one of the sweet options. Surprise menus run from three to seven courses, and a matching wine journey is available.
The Schlemmer Atlas, which gave the restaurant 2,5 Kochlöffel in 2026, describes guests seated in the historic rooms of a grand old town house with an inner courtyard. The Altbau rooms are styled with care, and the courtyard offers outdoor seating.
