The story
Ostiner Stub'n, at Schlierseer Str. 60 in Gmund am Tegernsee, cooks a seasonal, regional style of food that earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026. The inn says this is its tenth year in a row with the award, which the guide gives for good quality, good value cooking.
The house has two dining options. The Hirsch & Jägerstüberl is the cozy room for regional country-house cooking. The fine dining restaurant serves modern European cuisine with some Asian influences, offered as a set menu sequence.
The cards change with the seasons. Most key ingredients come from producers around Tegernsee, and the kitchen puts sustainability at the center of its approach. A chef's menu recommendation and the desserts appear on the regular card, and the inn also lists a set lunch menu and a private room.
The Schlemmer Atlas gave the inn 2.5 Kochlöffel in 2026. It describes a mix of refined international dishes and Bavarian specialties, and calls the fondue evenings in the cozy little room legendary. Outdoor seating and parking are available.
