The story
bidlabu, at Kleine Bockenheimer Straße 14 in Frankfurt am Main, is a contemporary bistro that earned one Michelin star in 2026 for its high quality cooking. The restaurant serves a set of menus built around seasonal produce, with an international range of plates and wine pairings.
André Rickert and Janina Allgaier run the kitchen, which sits in view of the small dining room. Their bistro cooking is mostly classic in style, with one creative twist on each plate. Vegetarian guests are well served, since vegetable dishes take center stage on the menu.
Recent menus have included ceviche of pikeperch with kohlrabi and elderflower, and a gazpacho of watermelon with feta and basil. Ravioli arrives with pea, tarragon and asparagus, while the fish of the day has come with mushrooms, asparagus and dashi. Crispy duck and vadouvan-spiced shrimp appear in the wider repertoire.
The room is minimalist and has a lively urban energy. The restaurant sits in a back lane in the city center, near the Alte Oper, and there is a terrace for warmer days. Lunch runs on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, while dinner is served in two seatings.
Wine pairings are offered alongside the menus, and the staff are happy to suggest bottles from young growers and established estates. Guests who prefer not to drink can choose a non-alcoholic pairing with 0.0 to 0.3 percent alcohol. Desserts include strawberry with sorrel, yogurt and vanilla, and raspberry sorbet with lemon and verbena.
