The story
Stubn in der Frasdorfer Hütte, at Zellboden 2 in Frasdorf near Aschau im Chiemgau, serves modern Alpine cuisine from a mountain lodge on a plateau in the Chiemgau Alps. The Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended for 2026.
Markus Erbach cooks modern, seasonal Alpine food, and the menu changes weekly. Ingredients come from friendly producers and from the lodge's own farm and forestry. Der Feinschmecker gave the kitchen 2.5 in 2026 and places it somewhere between a hiker's hut and fine dining.
The short card might open with house-baked bread and butter, then Renken matjes from the Lex fishery on the Chiemsee, served with apple and rösti. Veal stew arrives with pretzel dumplings. A vegetarian course pairs celery, whey and cornelian cherry. The wine list leans toward small growers who work close to nature.
The Frasdorfer Hütte reopened as Stubn in May 2022 after a renovation guided by BAND Architektur. Inside, natural stone and wood set the tone in a cosy dining room, with an open kitchen and a terrace in the open landscape. Guests can also stay overnight in the rooms.
