The story
Del Mar is a Spanish seafood restaurant at 791 Wharf St. S.W. in Washington, DC, run by chef Fabio Trabocchi. The Michelin Recommended listing in 2026 places it among the city's notable Spanish kitchens, on the riverfront at The Wharf.
Trabocchi builds the menu around the coast of Spain and its islands. Hand-carved Ibérico ham is sliced tableside, and the raw bar serves Spanish-style seafood, including locally raised oysters and a yellowfin tuna carpaccio meant for two. Catalan-style entrées are grilled over charcoal, and the paellas are made with Bomba rice and served with garlic alioli.
The two-story dining room was designed in Spain by Lazaro Rosa Violan of Barcelona and assembled by Spanish artisans. The second-floor terrace looks over the marina and the Wharf's Yacht Club. Wine Spectator gave the restaurant its Best of Award of Excellence in 2018, and the list is built around Spanish bottles.
