The story
Marcellino is an Italian restaurant at 7114 E Stetson Drive in Scottsdale's Old Town, and Gambero Rosso awarded it 2 forks in 2025. The dining room serves a fine dining Italian menu built around handmade pasta, Mediterranean seafood, and imported wild game.
Chef Marcellino Verzino grew up on a family farm in Italy's Campania region and began cooking for his family at eleven. He ran restaurants in summer resort towns and a bistro in Rome before moving to New York, then settled in Scottsdale twelve years ago with his wife, Sima. His stated goal is what he calls truthful, undiluted Italian cooking "alla Marcellino," built on fresh, seasonal ingredients.
The menu leans on fresh pasta, with a selection of Mediterranean seafood and meat dishes alongside it. Wine Spectator gave the restaurant its Award of Excellence in 2023, and the list pairs with the food as a focus of the meal. Takeaway dinners are also offered, with pastas and seafood available to take home.
Music is part of the evening on Thursdays and Saturdays. Sima Verzino returns to performing with her own jazz-influenced sound, driven by funky R&B rhythms, and recent calendar listings include her All Star Trio and an invited soprano.
