The story
The Village Pub is a contemporary American kitchen in Redwood City, at 2967 Woodside Road, Woodside, California, and it holds one Michelin star (2026). The restaurant opened in 2001 and has built its menu around the seasons, with the cooking rooted in French and Mediterranean traditions.
Roughly 80 percent of the produce comes from SMIP Ranch, a seventeen-acre organic farm in the Santa Cruz Mountains, a few miles west of town. The farm grows heirloom varieties for the restaurant alone and avoids synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. Chef Mark Sullivan was named one of Food & Wine's Best New Chefs shortly after the restaurant opened.
The wine list features more than 3,500 labels and received Wine Spectator's Grand Award in 2013. Guests may also bring a special bottle from their own cellar, and the sommeliers will open it for them.
