The story
Noksu is a Korean tasting counter at 49 W. 32nd St. in New York City, and it holds one Michelin star (2026). The kitchen cooks a mostly seafood tasting menu with Korean flavors, served to only fifteen guests at a time.
The menu runs ten courses, mostly seafood, with finned fish and shellfish leading and one savory livestock course near the end. Early dishes include Rice Flower, a shrimp tartare with gochujang and lime, and Custard, built on peekytoe crab, Kristal caviar and foie. Sujebi pairs zucchini and clam in an anchovy broth. The drinks list earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2025.
The room sits about twenty feet underground, inside the Herald Square subway station. Guests take a flight of stairs at the corner of 32nd Street and Broadway, then follow a long, narrow corridor to a black door marked with the Nōksu sign. The New York Times praised the food as "uncannily good," and the location alone gives the meal a distinctly New York character.
