The story
Don Angie is an Italian American restaurant at 103 Greenwich Ave. in New York City, and it earned a Michelin Recommended listing in 2026. The kitchen serves American and Italian-American dishes in the West Village, with lunch and dinner service and outdoor seating.
Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli run the kitchen, and their debut cookbook, Italian American, sets out their approach. They take old-school red sauce cooking and update it with multicultural influences from New York City. The dishes sit between Italian and American traditions. The restaurant also received a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2023.
The cookbook includes Campari & Orange Sticky Ribs, Eggplant Pinwheel Lasagna, Shrimp Parm Meatballs and Spiced Lamb Ragu alla Marsala. Its chapters follow the backbone of the cuisine, from cold and hot antipasti to ragus, pastas, lasagna and meatballs. The recipes draw on family history from the chefs' immigrant grandparents and great-grandparents.
