The story
Antica Pesa in New York City is an Italian restaurant at 115 Berry Street, Brooklyn, serving Roman dishes from the Panella family's kitchen. Gambero Rosso awarded it 2 forks in 2026.
Simone Panella, one of the family partners, works as executive chef. His Italian kitchen adapts traditional Roman recipes with modern techniques, and the menu shifts with each season's produce. The cooking puts weight on memory, technique and tradition.
The family's Roman trattoria opened in 1922 in Trastevere, on a street that once held a customs post. The Brooklyn room followed in 2012 and was among the first openings during Brooklyn's rebirth. Wine Spectator gave it an Award of Excellence in 2023.
