The story
Commander's Palace is a Creole restaurant at 1403 Washington Ave. in New Orleans, rated AAA Four Diamond in 2026 for distinctive fine dining and polished service.
The house compares New Orleans cooking to jazz. Good musicians sit down together and make music, and the kitchen works the same way. The idea shows most clearly at the Jazz Brunch, a long-running fixture of this Southern American dining room.
Martinis cost 25¢ at lunch every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Wine pairing is available, and Wine Spectator awarded the restaurant a Grand Award in 2012. Private dining suits rehearsal dinners, board meetings and anniversary parties. Le Petit Bleu and the Commander's Collection carry the brand home.
