The story

Chez Philippe Memphis: American and French Dining at The Peabody Hotel

Chez Philippe is an American and French restaurant at 149 Union Avenue in downtown Memphis, Tennessee, inside The Peabody Memphis hotel. Forbes Travel Guide awarded it Four-Star status in 2026, and the dining room is a short walk from Beale Street.

Chef-driven cooking

Executive Chef Andreas Kisler and Chef de Cuisine Keith Clinton lead the kitchen. The menu changes daily, and the kitchen states that it sources from local and sustainable suppliers. A vegetarian tasting menu is available on request, and guests with allergies or dietary restrictions are asked to mention them when booking.

Desserts from the pastry kitchen

Executive Pastry Chef Konrad Spitzbart's desserts are worth saving room for. Forbes highlights a chocolate coffee gateaux with peanut butter caramel and banana rum ice cream, a nod to Elvis, and a crème brûlée trio of vanilla, chocolate and pistachio served with French macarons.

Chez Philippe’s downtown location is just blocks fromMemphisattractions such as Beale Street, the Memphis Rock N’ Soul Museum, Gibson Guitar Factory, National Civil Rights Museum and Sun Studio — an ideal spot for a bite before seeing a show at the Orpheum Theatre or enjoying a night on the town.Although the idea of fine dining tends to evoke stuffy attitudes and prim and proper behavior, Chez Philippe takes advantage of its location in The Peabody Memphis and boasts Southern hospitality and charm. The waitstaff create a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. We think the best tables at Chez Philippe are the three corner tables on the third tier of the Four-Star restaurant. They overlook the whole room, so you will have your back to the wall and not to people. You won’t want to skip dessert here— executive pastry chef Konrad Spitzbart creates sumptuous dishes such as the chocolate coffee gateaux with peanut butter caramel and banana rum ice cream — a nod to Elvis —and the crème brûlée trio of vanilla, chocolate and pistachio with French macarons.Service at Chez Philippe is beyond reproach; the staff of the Four-Star restaurant is very knowledgeable about the menu and attend to each table like Goldilocks — not too frequently, not too infrequently, but just right.
