The story
Rare Steakhouse, at 1 Broadway in Everett, Massachusetts, holds a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star rating for 2026. It is a steakhouse built around certified Japanese beef.
Rare is the only registered Kobe Beef Federation user in Massachusetts, and it serves A5 beef from Japan's Hyogo prefecture. Plenty of menus use the word Kobe loosely. Here the claim is backed by registration. Meat-free dishes appear seasonally, so vegetarians are not left with a side salad.
Forbes singles out the service: water glasses stay full, and plates are cleared as soon as you finish. The wine list received a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2020. At the bar, look for hard-to-find bourbons, cognacs and scotches.
