The story
Manuela, at 907 E. Third St. in Los Angeles, is a modern American restaurant where Executive Chef Kris Tominaga cooks seasonal produce from Southern California farms. The Wine Spectator Award of Excellence (2024) and a Michelin Recommended listing (2026) mark its recognition.
Food comes off a charcoal grill and out of a wood-fired oven. The menu covers vegetables, grains, fish and game, with ingredients sourced from local purveyors. Some of the garden's herbs, vegetables and fruit end up in dishes and cocktails, and the garden also keeps chickens for fresh eggs.
Cast iron cornbread arrives with cultured butter and wildflower honey, and the Miyagi oysters come with Nantes carrot mignonette. The bar serves classic cocktails made with house-made bitters and tonics, with local beers on tap.
