The story
Pappas Bros. Steakhouse is an American steakhouse at 5839 Westheimer Rd. in Houston, and the MICHELIN Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026. The kitchen is built around USDA prime beef that is butchered and dry-aged on site.
The restaurant buys its beef from a single Midwest packer and butchers every cut in house. Most are dry-aged for at least 28 days, then seasoned with kosher salt and black pepper, finished with butter and seared. Desserts and the rest of the menu are made from scratch each day.
The cellar holds thousands of selections from fine-wine regions around the world, and the list is adjusted monthly as inventory changes. The Wine Spectator Grand Award recognizes it. Every sommelier is certified, and Steven McDonald, a Master Sommelier on the team, received the inaugural Texas MICHELIN Guide Sommelier Award in 2024. Winemaker tastings and seated wine dinners run through the year.
Behind the bar are more than 100 premium liquor brands, including a large collection of rare single malts. Cocktails rely on house-made syrups and fresh ingredients, and the style is classic.
The Westheimer dining room opened in 1995 on the site of The Strawberry Patch, the first restaurant the Pappas family established, in 1976. The family has worked in restaurants since 1967.
