The story
STARS at Chatham Bars Inn serves American cooking at 297 Shore Road, Chatham, Massachusetts, and holds Forbes Travel Guide's Four-Star rating for 2026. The restaurant sits inside the inn and draws much of its menu from the property's own farm.
Executive Chef Andrew Chadwick leads the kitchen, which sources from the inn's 8-acre farm in Brewster, Massachusetts. The team harvests more than 100,000 pounds of produce a year. The hotel bought the farm in 2012, and the culinary team plans what gets grown there. Vegetables show up across the menu, including hot house cucumbers with yuzu crème fraîche and sumac chickpeas.
The kitchen cooks with a regional, coastal sensibility. Seared local scallops arrive with pea purée, asparagus and pomegranate jus. The dry aged duck comes with citrus heirloom carrot and potato fondant. Cape Cod oysters are served with a negroni mignonette. Forbes notes that the meat list includes a 30-day dry-aged striploin, wild boar and Rohan duck, while the seafood side leans toward seared scallops and vegetable tagine.
Floor-to-ceiling windows line the dining room, and daytime tables face the ocean. After dark, the resort's white lights reflect across the view. Wine Spectator gave STARS its Best of Award of Excellence in 2022, and the wine list is a clear reason to linger. Dessert is worth saving room for, with housemade Cape Cod ice cream and sorbet, plus a chocolate-banana rocher with caramelized banana and espresso Chantilly.
