The story
Farmhouse Inn Restaurant serves Californian and French-leaning seasonal cooking at 7871 River Road in Forestville, California. The restaurant holds a Michelin Recommended (2026) listing, and its menus draw on Sonoma ingredients for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the inn.
Executive Chef Juan Cabrera builds his menus around what is fresh that week. Some ingredients come from local farms, others from trusted culinary partners, and a portion grows in the restaurant's own Chalk Hill AVA Culinary Gardens. He keeps the preparations restrained so each ingredient is easy to read on the plate.
The sample dinner menu opens with burrata di Puglia, pistachio and pesto, or a Caesar built on Chalk Hill Farm little gems and Parmigiano-Reggiano. Entrées include a half oven-roasted chicken over creamy polenta and Ora King salmon finished with nduja beurre blanc. Dessert might be citrus and cream, with vanilla custard and tarragon. Guests with dietary restrictions should give at least 72 hours' notice, since vegan and allium substitutions are not available at this time.
Forbes Travel Guide Recommended (2026) notes well-spaced tables for quiet conversation. The main room has a vaulted ceiling, wood chandeliers, a corner fireplace and frescoed murals of Bartolomei family scenes, with jazz standards playing softly in the background.
