The story
Andros Taverna, at 2542 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago, is a contemporary Greek restaurant that received a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2022. The Logan Square kitchen cooks Greek food with a strong seafood focus, drawing on the island traditions of its owners' family.
Chef Doug Psaltis built the restaurant as a passion project rooted in his Greek heritage and family ties to the island of Andros. The menu keeps classic mezzes and crisp salads, then cooks wild seafood over charcoal embers. Michelin lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026.
Pitas are stretched to order and brushed with olive oil, then wrapped around souvlaki straight off the grill. Whole lamb is dry-aged and butchered in house, and the rib chops come off the charcoal with harissa and lemon. The seafood program starts with live seafood, including Mediterranean octopus and char grilled oysters.
