The story
Husk, at 76 Queen St. in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, cooks Southern American food built on regional farms and seafood. Wine Spectator gave the restaurant its Award of Excellence in 2025, and the kitchen has been open since 2011.
Executive Chef Rick Ohlemacher leads the kitchen, sourcing from a network of farmers and purveyors. Menus draw on heirloom grains and aged country ham, with subtle global touches on seasonal produce. Before joining Husk in 2022, Ohlemacher cooked in Chicago, including at the Michelin-starred GreenRiver. The restaurant holds a 2026 Michelin Guide Recommended listing.
The dining room sits in a restored two-story Victorian, next to a nineteenth-century kitchen house. The Bar & Patio occupies that kitchen house and seats guests first come, first serve. The bar pours a deep collection of bourbons and other Southern spirits, with cocktails that range from modern to historic. Private events can take over the lounge, bar, and patio, or a single space for a smaller gathering.
General Manager Megan Schneeberger previously served as Husk's sommelier and wine director, and her selections favor ethically sourced, sustainably farmed bottles. The wine list reflects her own perspective alongside that standard. Dessert and brunch menus are also listed on the restaurant's site, with brunch served on weekends.
