The story
Element 47 is a contemporary American restaurant at 675 East Durant Avenue in Aspen, Colorado, inside The Little Nell hotel. Michelin lists it as Recommended for 2026, and the menu is built around local ingredients and the season.
Executive chef Matt Zubrod runs the kitchen, and the à la carte menu changes with the seasons. The restaurant serves wagyu beef raised at Cross Creek Farms, along with house-made pastas and produce from local growers. Ingredients may shift from week to week, so a dish you order in winter may be gone by summer.
The dining room leans on silver, gray, dark brown, black and navy, with the occasional bright accent such as deep red etched glass tumblers. There is no dress code, and "Aspen casual" is the easy choice. Forbes Travel Guide awarded the restaurant Four-Star for 2026 and singled out the staff, from the hostess to the sommelier. Adjacent to the main room, The Living Room wraps around a two-sided fireplace and serves the bar menu.
The wine list holds more than 600 references, with strong sections for Austrian, Italian and sparkling bottles. Guests can book a private tasting hosted by a sommelier. For a larger evening, a private wine dinner can be built around a custom menu and hand-selected pairings, with a consultation alongside the Wine Director and Executive Chef.
