The story
Y Talbot in Tregaron, Ceredigion, serves Modern British food at Tregaron, SY25 6JL, and holds a 1 Rosette Award for Culinary Excellence from the AA (2026).
Head Chef Dafydd Watkin changes the menu with the seasons. Local beef and line-caught fish from Cardigan Bay feature often, alongside vegetables from nearby farms. Photographs on the gallery page show Cardigan Bay crab brioche, confit duck leg with dauphinoise potatoes, and Welsh lamb shepherd's pie. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.
The restaurant was once the hotel's carriage house and seats up to 30. It is a light, airy room with windows onto the town square, lined with paintings and photographs of the building's history. Dogs are welcome in the bars but not in the restaurant.
