The story
The Farmhouse at Redcoats serves Modern British food at Redcoats Green, Hertfordshire SG4 7JR, in Stevenage, and holds 2 AA Rosettes for culinary excellence (2026). The restaurant is a conservatory dining room attached to a centuries-old farmhouse, with seasonal menus that draw on produce from its own kitchen garden and from local and regional suppliers.
The kitchen works with homegrown vegetables when they are available and sources the rest nearby. The Good Food Guide describes a modern repertoire that changes with the seasons, served in a room that feels warm and welcoming. The front of house team is friendly and unhurried.
Reviewers praised an autumn meal of confident, assured cooking. Dishes included roasted baby carrots with Bevistan Dairy sheep's yoghurt, pickled radish, walnuts and sherry vinegar, and roasted Stanhope pheasant breast with confit leg and a root vegetable pithivier. For dessert, the burnt Basque cheesecake with caramelised fig was the highlight.
