The story
The Olive Branch, listed in Stamford, cooks British and modern European food at Main Street, Clipsham, Rutland, LE15 7SH, and holds 2 AA Rosettes for culinary excellence (2026). The menus change with the seasons and the daily ingredients.
Head Chef Dean Carroll leads a kitchen that buys locally and grows part of its own supply. The pub paddock has potatoes, beetroot, radishes and rhubarb in its veg patches, with cucumbers and herbs in a polytunnel. Cheese and milk come from Manor Farm dairy in Thrussington, and vegetables come from the Lincolnshire Fens.
The range runs from haddock and chips to courgette and sage tagliatelle, and venison haunch served with braised onion and roast beetroot. Dessert might be a tonka-bean panna cotta or an Eccles cake with Barkham Blue cheese. The wine list pairs regional ales and good-value bottles with Coravin selections for guests who want something rarer.
