The story
The Ingham Swan, on Sea Palling Road in Ingham (NR12 9AB), is a modern British restaurant with rooms in Stalham, Norfolk. The AA awarded it 3 Rosettes in 2026, and the kitchen works from a 14th-century coaching inn beside the ruins of Ingham Priory.
Daniel Smith, a Norfolk-born chef patron, trained at Le Gavroche in London before returning to Norfolk to work with Galton Blackiston at Morston Hall. He earned his first Michelin star there as head chef, aged 23. He opened The Ingham Swan in April 2010.
The Good Food Guide describes classical precision alongside looser modern ideas, with produce sourced locally and from the East Coast boats.
Sample menus have featured charred new season Norfolk asparagus with cow's curd dressing, and Cromer crab with brown crab emulsion and heritage tomato. Dessert has included blackberry soufflé with freeze-dried raspberries. The Du Jour and A La Carte menus change daily, while the Sunday menu is set separately, so dishes on any given night may differ from the samples.
The inn was restored after a fire in September 2017 and reopened in March 2019. Seven ensuite rooms sit across the converted coach house, which is a few steps from the dining room, and a Norfolk cottage. Stay and dine rates typically include the seven-course taster menu and breakfast the next morning.
