The story
The Moat House, at Lower Penkridge Road in Acton Trussell, is a Modern British restaurant that holds 2 AA Rosettes for 2026. The restaurant sits inside a Grade II listed manor house with its own lake, about four miles from Stafford town centre.
The menus change with the seasons, and the kitchen works with growers, farmers and suppliers close to the hotel. Spring brings vegetables, summer brings berries, autumn brings game and winter brings root vegetables. Guests with dietary requirements or allergies are asked to say so when booking.
Alongside the seasonal dishes, the menu keeps British favourites such as hearty pies, beer-battered fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding. The restaurant also serves a children's menu, a dessert menu and a Sunday menu. The We're Smart Green Guide awards the restaurant two Radishes for 2026.
