The story
The Loch & The Tyne is a modern British pub at 10 Crimp Hill in Old Windsor, listed under Slough, and it holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026. It opened in 2021 as part of chef Adam Handling's collection.
Chef Proprietor Steven Kerr has cooked alongside Adam Handling since 2008, and running a pub was a long-held ambition. His menu changes with the seasons and draws on local producers, plus the pub's own vegetable gardens and orchards. The result is classic pub cooking with richer ingredients, and the kitchen holds 3 AA Rosettes.
The sourdough comes with chicken butter, chicken-skin scratchings and a chicken jus for dunking. Steak tartare is topped with a pile of paprika-flavoured crispy shallots. Among the mains, a chicken breast is served with tenderstem broccoli, basil, crème fraîche and London miso. To finish, the king's trifle layers parkin, ginger cream, custard and strawberry jelly under candied pistachios.
Tartan tub chairs and walls hung with dried heather give the pub the feel of a modern Highland lodge, a nod to Handling's Scottish roots. In good weather the shaded front terrace looks over open fields. Dogs are welcome, and Sunday lunch is a house fixture. The Wine Cellar, a private dining room, seats up to 12.
