The story
The Pig at Harlyn Bay, Newquay, is a Modern British restaurant at Harlyn Bay, Padstow, Cornwall, PL28 8SQ. The Good Food Guide rated it Good in 2026, and the cooking follows the same plain logic that guide praised.
Most ingredients come from within a 25-mile radius, and some are grown on site. One Good Food Guide inspector summed up the kitchen as "simple cooking, simple local ingredients, no fuss, great staff." Dishes on that visit included a chilled beetroot soup with horseradish cream and red mullet with sweet onion purée and crisp Mr Bartlett's coppa.
The building is a 15th-century house overlooking the water. Reception has an open fire and opens into the lounge, while the open kitchen runs through several dining rooms that feel intimate. The wine list champions British producers from £33. Dessert might be a foraged elderflower jelly with Bacchus sorbet. In season, a lobster shed across the driveway serves flame-grilled steaks and seafood.
