The story
Winsome is a modern British restaurant at 74 Princess Street, Manchester, M1 6JD, ranked 67 in the National Restaurant Awards 2026. Chef-patron Shaun Moffat runs the kitchen, and the menus change with the seasons.
Shaun Moffat previously cooked at The Edinburgh Castle in Ancoats, where his cooking helped the pub's upstairs dining room earn a place in the Top 50 Gastropubs list. His CV also includes London restaurants Manteca, Hix and St Leonards. The British kitchen aims for food that feels familiar and comforting, with flavour and technique at the centre.
The menu moves through snacks, starters, mains and desserts. Ingredients come from across the UK, including Brixham seafood, Welsh pork, Clyndria beetroot and Garstang Blue cheese. The Michelin Guide lists Winsome as Recommended for 2026.
Winsome sits inside the Whitworth Locke Hotel, in the former Peru Perdu site, with a relaxed, stripped-back dining room. Tom Fastiggi, formerly of Schofield's Bar, leads the drinks list, which pairs hotel classics and original cocktails with no-and-low options and an Old World wine list. The team has also taken over the hotel's Atrium bar.
