The story
Yauatcha, at 15-17 Broadwick Street in London, serves Cantonese dim sum throughout the day and holds a Michelin Recommended listing for 2026. The kitchen works from a dim sum core, with steamed, baked and fried plates that sit alongside a patisserie and a tea-led drinks menu.
The menu follows a core and peripheral approach. Shu mai, har gau, cheung fun, venison puffs and congee form the everyday foundation, while seasonal and signature dishes add variation. Scallop shui mai, prawn and beancurd cheung fun and venison puffs are among the dishes the restaurant names. Duck, fish and noodle plates complete the Cantonese kitchen.
The original design by Christian Liaigre keeps the kitchen visible from the dining room, so the dumplings being shaped and steamed are part of the room. Groups can book a private room, and the space suits both a long lunch and a late dinner.
The drinks list includes more than 24 teas, from Dragon's Well and High Mountain Oolong to Tian Hong, alongside cocktails built on Chinese ingredients. The patisserie counter offers petits gateaux, chocolates and macarons that draw on Chinese heritage, and the desserts can be eaten at the table or taken away.
