The story
The Mayfair Chippy serves British seafood and fish and chips at 14 North Audley Street, Mayfair, W1K 6WE, London, and holds a 2026 AA Rosette for culinary excellence. The menu stays close to the classic chip shop, with a fish list that also runs to oysters, crab and mussels.
Fillets of cod or haddock come in a light, crisp beer batter with thick-cut chips. Gluten-free and alcohol-free batter are available, and a vegan option is on the menu. The fish is responsibly sourced and changes with the seasons. The Soft Shell Crab Burger, served with Mayfair Slaw, is the other main dish to order.
The dining room pays tribute to old-fashioned chippies, with a chequerboard floor, white panelled walls, sea-themed artwork and cosy booths. Homemade Chip Shop Curry Sauce, HP Gravy and Tartare sit alongside the fish. In good weather, the outdoor tables suit a cold glass of rosé and a couple of oysters. Walk-ins are welcome, but the queue can be long, and takeaway is the quickest way through it.
