The story
The Clove Club, in Shoreditch Town Hall at 380 Old Street, London, is a modern British restaurant that holds two Michelin stars for excellent cooking (2026).
Isaac McHale leads the kitchen with tasting menus in long or short form. The open kitchen is faced in blue tiles, set against bare wood floors that contrast with the formal, stepped entrance of the former town hall.
Barbecued aubergine comes topped with white crabmeat, with brown crab bisque and dill oil over the top. Sardine sashimi is glazed in soy and chrysanthemum, then sharpened with mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Sea bass is grilled over hazel wood and brought to the table on a still-smoking skillet. Dessert may be apricot-kernel mousse over a Victoria sponge soaked in apricot syrup. The cocktails are worth ordering, according to the Good Food Guide.
