The story
Tamila Clapham is a South Indian restaurant at 39 Northcote Road, SW11 1NJ, London, and it holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026 for good quality, good value cooking. The menu runs to small plates, curries and sides, most of them meant for sharing.
The Good Food Guide singles out the onion bhaji, crunchy and chewy, served with a sweet mint chutney. Its entry also praises the cheese and chilli dosa and a rich, deeply satisfying curried dhal. The Thanjavur chicken curry is laced with turmeric, coriander and coconut, with just the right amount of heat. Vegetarian and vegan curries sit alongside the meat dishes, and buttery, flaky roti makes a good companion for them.
A cocktail and drinks menu accompanies the food. Leave room for the gulab jamun, hot and sticky, resting in a pool of rose-flavoured milk. Service is casual and efficient, and tables are fully booked at busy times, so reserving early is sensible.
