The story
Locatelli at the National Gallery, in the Sainsbury Wing at Trafalgar Square, London, is an Italian restaurant that earned a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026. Giorgio and Plaxy Locatelli run the room in partnership with Searcys, on the mezzanine level of the gallery.
Executive Chef Imma Savinelli grew up in the South of Italy and learned to cook in her childhood kitchen. The menu changes with the seasons. Pappardelle with broad beans, pecorino and rocket, and braised veal ravioli with gremolata show the handmade pasta, and cassata siciliana closes the meal.
Warm wooden floors and Italian marble frame a light dining room, with a Paula Rego mural, Crivelli's Garden, as its focal point. Downstairs, Bar Giorgio serves espresso and maritozzi, the soft Roman buns filled with sweet or savoury fillings.
