The story
Arlington is a modern European restaurant at 20 Arlington Street, St James's, London, and the Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026. It occupies the address where Le Caprice once held court.
Jeremy King and Chris Corbin opened Le Caprice here on 1 September 1981. King went on to open The Ivy, J Sheekey, The Wolseley and The Delaunay, among others, before coming back to this room to open Arlington.
The Good Food Guide 2026 rates Arlington Good and describes a faithfully restored monochrome Parisian brasserie look. David Bailey's photographs still line the walls, and a piano plays in the evening.
The European kitchen keeps the old favourites. Bang bang chicken has been on the menu since the original Le Caprice, served over julienned vegetables with sesame and coriander. Crispy duck salad, calf's liver with bacon and salmon fishcakes with sorrel sauce also have loyal followers. The Guide singled out desserts, a buttery tarte tatin and a light elderflower jelly with summer fruits.
The wine list leans towards Europe, with glasses from £9 and carafes from £27. Weekend set lunches run at £21 for two courses and £24.75 for three. Sunday brings sirloin of Hereford beef with Yorkshire pudding for £29.50.
