The story
Bavette is a French bistro in Horsforth, Leeds, at 4-6 Town Street, LS18 4RJ, and it holds a 2026 Michelin Bib Gourmand for good quality, good value cooking. Sandy Jarvis and Clément Cousin run the restaurant together, opening in 2024 after working in London.
The menu draws on London bistros such as Racine and Terroirs, where Jarvis worked before opening. Clément Cousin, who grew up in Anjou on the Loire, brings the French side of the kitchen. Snacks include comté cheese croquettes and house charcuterie, and the eponymous bavette arrives with fries and a mixed leaf salad.
The former Pizza Express site now has a wooden floor, spindle back chairs, a long brown banquette, gilt mirrors and green walls. The wine list includes bottles from the Cousin family vineyard in the Loire, farmed organically and biodynamically for five generations, including a 2023 Cuvee Bavette cabernet franc.
